I have spent most of my career working with individuals, couples, and families. I have worked in numerous community mental health agencies, as well as co-operated a company focused on helping families through the challenges of addiction. I have specialized training in individual therapy, couples’ therapy, family therapy, interventions, conducting assessments, crisis-intervention, and group therapy.
I hold a diploma in Criminology and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Malaspina University (now Vancouver Island University). I have a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from The University of Athabasca. I am dually licensed as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Board Registered Interventionist (BRI).
I have additional training and specialization with multiple approaches to addiction, relationships, and trauma. Some of the approaches I believe in and received training are Satir family therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Bowen family systems, Relational Empowerment therapy (RLT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sex addiction therapy (CSAT). I am also qualified to assess substance use and placement, sex addiction and partner trauma from sex addiction. I am a board registered Interventionist, which means I have extensive experience working with families in areas of substance and process addictions, as well as mental health challenges. If you are curious to know more about my experience, training, and credentials, please contact me and I will be happy to send you a copy of my CV.
I am inspired seeing individuals grow and face the challenges in their lives. I am passionate about working with couples to heal and strengthen their relationships. I love witnessing families find systemic health and communication. I love what I do and am happy to help in any way I can.
In addition to my training and experience, I believe my fun-loving, honest, down to earth personality will immediately put you at ease! I see you and your relationships holistically. I have a passion for helping others while they navigate through vulnerable, challenging and exciting times in their lives. In addition to having a career I love, I am a parent, a grandparent, a wife and a member of a family. These rich roles and experiences make me who I am and inform my work with you.
